STARTING THE ROFFA ADVENTURE
Back home we started Roffa, which is slang for Rotterdam. After a couple of months of rebuilding and hard work, we managed to open the doors of the Streetfoodbar by the end of 2015. With of course, a Oklahoma smoker in it. It was very clear to us. We wanted to create a barbecue joint like the ones we knew from the USA, giving it a somewhat local twist: good booze – great bbq – no bull shit!
TRADING SUITS FOR SMOKEY SHIRTS
Maybe it all started a bit earlier actually. Coming from a butcher’s family in Rotterdam, Hilbert was already learning the skills at a young age, helping out his parents in their butcher’s store. But later on he followed a different path. After years of work in the office, he was fed up with the 9 to 5 culture and traded his suit for a shirt, always smelling smokey after work nowadays.

Roffa Streetfoodbar was just the start. In 2018 we opened Roffa RestoBar and Roffa Foodhallen. Of course we can only do that with a hard working team. Through the years we gathered great people around us, coming from all over the world. But, we are always looking for new and enthusiastic colleagues.
